School of Coding & AI

Primary Courses

Explore our primary courses for KS 1 and KS 2. We cover and extensive range of courses including computing, game development and coding.

Key Stage 1

Computing National Curriculum

The first term focuses on getting familiar with using a mouse, navigating interfaces, and remembering passwords. Students then learn creative skills by making self portraits and posters. Later terms cover directional language, keyboard shortcuts, and logins to build efficiency. Computational thinking is also introduced through unplugged activities to help solve problems independently.

Game Development

In the first term, students learn about astronauts and research them online. They continue coding lessons from Year 1 and ensure they can access coding tools. Collaborative research and mapping skills are also practiced by presenting findings online.

Web Design

presentation skills and data collection. Students learn programming languages and solve problems of increasing complexity. They also learn how to stay safe online and use communication tools like email and video calls appropriately. Presentation and data analysis skills are developed by making videos and creating opinion polls.

App Development

Coding skills are expanded through designing computer games with clear goals. Data measurement, analysis and presentation are tied together as students take on data analysis projects. Sound design is also introduced for enhancing game projects. HTML and Java skills are learned for web editing and drawing/animation.

Game Development

Students design and create games using block coding. Crypto activities link to coding and history. Virtual environments are explored and CAD software used for architectural designs. Blogging is used to publish content for an intended audience.

Python Programming

Year 6 ties computing to the history of the subject. Concepts like decomposition and debugging are considered in relation to early coding machines. App development fundamentals are explored by examining inputs, outputs, interfaces and target audiences. Students also undertake a research project considering these elements for developing their own app idea.
