Board of Governors
The Board of Governors is responsible for providing strategic leadership, oversight, and accountability across School of Coding & AI. The Board works to ensure that the organisation delivers on its mission, maintains high standards of educational quality, and operates in a sustainable, ethical, and effective manner.
The Board of Governors is responsible for the following:
- Strategy
- Leadership Oversight
- People and Culture
- Financial Stewardship
- Safeguarding and Learner Welfare
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Governance and Risk Management
Strategy
Determining the mission, vision, and strategic direction of School of Coding & AI and overseeing the organisation’s activities.
This includes:
- Approving the organisation's strategic priorities and objectives
- Monitoring progress against strategic goals
- Supporting innovation in digital skills, technology, and artificial intelligence education
- Ensuring that programmes meet the needs of learners, employers, and communities
- Reviewing organisational performance and impact
Leadership Oversight
Providing independent oversight and constructive challenge to the Executive Leadership Team.
The Board is responsible for:
- Monitoring organisational performance against agreed objectives
- Reviewing strategic and operational reports
- Ensuring appropriate leadership and succession planning arrangements are in place
- Holding executive leadership accountable for delivering the organisation's strategy
- Providing guidance, support, and independent scrutiny where appropriate
People and Culture
Providing oversight of the organisation’s people strategy and ensuring appropriate frameworks are in place for staff, volunteers, associates, and contractors.
This includes:
- Reviewing workforce development and organisational capacity
- Promoting a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture
- Supporting professional development and continuous learning
- Monitoring workforce wellbeing and organisational effectiveness
Financial Stewardship
Providing oversight of the financial management and sustainability of School of Coding & AI.
The Board is responsible for:
- Ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the organisation
- Safeguarding organisational assets and resources
- Ensuring resources are used effectively and efficiently
- Approving annual budgets and financial plans
- Reviewing financial performance throughout the year
- Ensuring appropriate financial controls and assurance processes are in place
Safeguarding and Learner Welfare
Ensuring that effective safeguarding arrangements are in place across all programmes and activities.
This includes:
- Monitoring safeguarding policies and procedures
- Receiving assurance regarding safeguarding compliance and training
- Promoting a culture that prioritises learner safety and wellbeing
- Reviewing safeguarding risks and mitigation measures
- Ensuring appropriate protection for children, young people, and vulnerable adults
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Ensuring that equality, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility are embedded throughout the organisation.
The Board has regard to:
- Promoting equality of opportunity
- Creating inclusive learning environments
- Removing barriers to participation and achievement
- Supporting diverse communities and underrepresented groups

Governance and Risk Management
Maintaining high standards of governance, accountability, and organisational integrity.
The Board is responsible for:

- Monitoring strategic and operational risks
- Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Supporting ethical decision-making and organisational accountability
- Promoting transparency and openness in governance activities
- Reviewing governance effectiveness and continuous improvement
